Its story
10 Boötis is a white star in the Herdsman suspected of being an astrometric binary: no second point is seen, but its motion against the sky betrays the tug of an unseen companion. About five hundred light-years away, it glimmers faintly for the unaided eye under clean skies. Its light set out when the Netherlands lived their Golden Age, and Vermeer let light fall through his painted windows.
