Its story
81 Ursae Majoris is a white A0V main-sequence star about 299 light-years away in the Great Bear. It shines with nearly fifty times the Sun's luminosity and shows the bluish-white tone typical of young, hot A-type stars actively fusing hydrogen at their cores. Modest in apparent brightness, it shares the sky with the Plough —the figure that has guided sailors and walkers across the northern hemisphere for millennia.
