In the familiar dipper of the Great Bear, an orange K-class star holds itself at 439 light years. The light meeting the eye tonight took leave around 1587, the year Mary Stuart was executed in England and Philip II was preparing the Spanish Armada. Warm and constant colour: no pulsing, no known companion — silence turned into a star.
