Its story
In Ursa Major, far from the most famous stars of the Plough, shines an A-type white star. Its light set out two hundred and thirty years ago, just as the French Revolution was redrawing Europe's political map and the republican calendar was trying to reorder time itself. Hotter than the Sun, it offers that cool white tone of stellar youth. It quietly accompanies the procession of the great bear, a sharp note we seldom name yet which has always been there, inside the most recognised drawing of the northern sky.
