In Virgo flickers an orange star, old and unhurried. Its light crossed some 325 years before reaching us: it set out around 1701, when Philip V's reign began in Spain and the War of the Spanish Succession was kindling. Cooler than the Sun, it shines with that coppery stillness so typical of stars that have already lived a long while.

HIP 64823 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is April: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
