Its story
7 Virginis shines 305 light-years away as a white A-type star on one of the quieter flanks of the Virgin, far from radiant Spica. Its spectral class points to a surface temperature near 8,000 K, the luminous register that gives A stars their characteristic blue-white hue. The light we see tonight set out in the late eighteenth century, as the French Revolution began to redraw Europe.
