What is HIP 64348
Within the southern centaur, 222 light-years away, throbs an orange K-type star whose warm glow has travelled a long road. Its light set out when Beethoven was completing his «Eroica» and rewriting the rules of the classical symphony. Cooler and calmer than the Sun, its surface hovers near 4,700 degrees and emits a light of ancient copper, fitting for a star that has entered its maturity.
