Its story
In the starry mane of Berenice's Hair shines an orange K-class giant, lying nearly six hundred and seventy light-years away. The coppery light that now describes it set out around 1356, when the kings of France and England were fighting the Battle of Poitiers and the Black Death still ravaged Europe. It is an ageing star, much broader than the Sun but cooler at the surface, in a long, serene phase of its evolution.
