30 Comae Berenices is a white A-type star about 303 light-years away, in the braided hair Queen Berenice offered to the gods. Its surface, far hotter than the Sun s, gives it the crisp white colour typical of A stars in their full hydrogen-burning prime. It is one of the many modest sparks that quietly trace this small, delicate piece of springtime embroidery in the sky.
