In Coma Berenices, that faint cloud of stars the Egyptian queen offered to the gods for her husband's return, shines a white A-type star 179 light-years away. Its light set out as the nineteenth century was beginning and the Industrial Revolution was transforming the European way of life. Hotter than the Sun, its crisp brilliance weaves into the thousands of luminous threads of this celestial coiffure, one more bead on Berenice's diadem.
