Its story
4 Comae Berenices is an orange K-type giant pulsing at 886 light-years inside Berenices' Hair, that cascade of faint stars with which the Hellenistic queen thanked the gods for her husband's return. Its light, crossing the window to the North Galactic Pole, traverses a region clean of dust, ideal for looking beyond the Milky Way toward the distant extragalactic clusters.
