What is 44 Virginis
44 Virginis is a white A-type star in Virgo, the figure linked in the zodiac to the harvest and to the goddess Astraea. It lies 254 light-years away and vibrates with the cold clarity of A-stars well settled on the main sequence. Its light shares the sky with Spica and with the vast region of the Virgo cluster, that front of galaxies stretching far behind the curtain of local stars.

44 Virginis lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is April: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
