Its story

Within sprawling Centaurus burns a blue B-type giant, many times hotter than the Sun and luminous enough to act as a distant beacon. Its light departed four centuries ago, just as Newton was publishing the «Principia» and gravity ceased to be mystery and became equation. Four hundred years on, that same bluish gleam ends its silent crossing, a reminder that the cosmos could be understood without losing a single ounce of its beauty.
