Its story

23 Comae Berenices drifts some 310 light-years away within the loose, hazy cluster of Berenices' Hair, the tresses the Egyptian queen offered to the gods according to legend. It is a white A-type star, young, hot, and sharp of spectrum. Its patch of sky opens onto the North Galactic Pole, a clear window toward the distant galaxy clusters mapped by deep-sky telescopes.
