12 Comae Berenices is a yellow-white F-type star in one of the sky's most understated constellations, about 295 light-years away. Coma Berenices, named for the hair of Queen Berenice II, is populated by modest stars and thousands of distant galaxies; this F-type beacon burns hotter than the Sun and offers one of the few steady lights in a region better known for its extragalactic treasures.
