Cool red star

Its story

A cool red giant in Centaurus, M-type: it emits a deep reddish light, closer to glowing embers than to a living flame. Its glow set out around 1532, as Francisco Pizarro entered Cajamarca and the Inca Empire saw its last free dawn. These aged stars are quiet factories of heavy elements, the very ones that will one day enrich clouds capable of forming new worlds.
