Its story

A blue B-type star flickers softly in the heart of Centaurus, that mythical figure galloping through the southern skies. Its glow reaches us after nearly 492 years of travel, having departed when Magellan was first circling the Earth and Iberian sailors discovered that the southern firmament looked nothing like Europe's. Its variable pulse is the distant echo of that same stellar strangeness.
