In Centaurus pulses a white class A star at 339.8 light years. Its light left around 1686, the year Newton presented his «Principia» to the Royal Society of London. It is a variable star: its brightness oscillates over time, a reminder that hot, snow-toned surfaces can hide internal mechanics as alive as those of any redder stellar heart.
