Its story
81 Leonis is a pale yellow F-type star in Leo, just 143 light-years away from Earth —one of the closer entries in the Flamsteed catalogue. It rises south of the lion's head, that characteristic inverted sickle anyone easily recognises in the spring evening sky. Its light, slightly warmer and whiter than the Sun's own, reaches the Earth after a full century and a half of silent travel.
