Cool red starIts story
Beneath the lion's mane of Leo glows a red M-type giant, cool on the surface yet swollen to dimensions that would dwarf the Sun. Its 572 light-years began their journey while the Catholic Monarchs were negotiating the Capitulations of Granada and, almost simultaneously, the contract that would send Columbus westward. Its reddish ember now arrives laden with that same air of a world about to widen.
