Variable star

Its story

It shines white and bluish over Carina, deep in the southern sky, about 454 light years away. Its glow set out around 1572, the very year Tycho Brahe observed the supernova that reshaped European astronomy. A B-type star, among the hottest and most luminous classes in the sky, its brightness wavers subtly, as if still hesitating between two inner pulses. A young, restless flame crossing the austral silence to reach our gaze today.
