Its story
About 234 light years away, in luminous Carina, a yellow G-type star resembles the Sun yet shines with greater intrinsic brilliance: a more mature version already swelling toward giant status. Its light departed around 1792, when France was proclaiming its First Republic and the southern sky still held many secrets for European cartographers. It shares with our daytime star that temperate temperature which tints the spectrum pale gold, though its size and age place it in another chapter of stellar life. It glows quietly amid the splendour of the Keel.
