More than twenty-three centuries of light separate us from this orange giant on Carina's keel. Its glow set out when Aristotle still walked the Lyceum, around the fourth century before our era. It belongs to the luminous: an aged star bloated with cold light, devouring hydrogen with the slow majesty of old suns, tens of times brighter than ours.
