This A-type star in the Keel pulses with variations detectable from Earth, a faint heartbeat travelling across vast distances. The catalogue figure places it on a very remote horizon, and its magnitude 4.65 reaches us as a distant whisper, white and serene. On southern charts it passes almost unnoticed, yet its pulsation turns it into one of those natural beacons that have fascinated astronomers since Henrietta Leavitt.
