Variable starIts story
Anchored in the Keel of the great ship Argo, this blue B-type giant pulses with subtle variability, restless and powerful. Its light travelled almost a thousand years: it left when the University of Bologna was being founded and the Normans were crossing southern Italy. It burns far hotter than the Sun and shines with a luminosity our yellow dwarf could never dream of. To see it is to lean over the late Middle Ages, when Arabic astrolabes still guided Mediterranean sailors.
