Variable star

Its story

In Carina, a blue variable star of class B travels in from some 1006 light-years away. Its light set out around the year 1019, when Avicenna in Persia was completing his Canon of Medicine, a work that would dominate European faculties for six centuries. The beacon, young and hot, does not always shine with the same intensity: small pulsations modulate its light, reminders of the inner tensions that rattle freshly formed giants.
