Hot blue starIts story
In Carina, the ancient hull of the ship Argo, a hot blue B-type shines some seven hundred and sixty-seven light years away. The light observed today set off around the year 1258, when the Mongols were sacking Baghdad and the Abbasid caliphate was collapsing. Its spectral class places it among the massive young stars, common in the galactic plane crossed by this southern constellation.
