Hot blue starIts story
Delta Antliae is a hot, young blue-white type-B star some 434 light-years away in the constellation of the Air Pump. Lacaille drew it in the eighteenth century to honour the invention of physicist Robert Boyle —that vacuum pump which transformed experimental chemistry. The constellation is among the dimmest of the southern sky, making Delta one of its few visible points.
