What is Epsilon Antliae
Epsilon Antliae inhabits one of the more obscure constellations of the southern sky —the Air Pump, another late invention of Lacaille in the eighteenth century to honour the instruments of the Enlightenment. It is an orange K-type giant at 711 light-years, a notable distance that explains why, despite its size, it barely reaches the fourth apparent magnitude.

Epsilon Antliae lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is March, when it culminates around midnight.

It can be seen from anywhere south of 54° N.
