Its story

Carina, the keel of the southern celestial ship, holds this lukewarm white star two hundred and sixty-two light-years away. Its light left the star around 1762, when Catherine the Great had just risen to the Russian throne and South America still lived under colonial rule, unaware of what the next century would bring. A-type, surgically white atmosphere, neither variable nor companioned: it shines and stays silent, faithful to the quiet pattern of ordinary stars.
