At 1091 light-years, this Carina orange giant breathes in the deep south, where the sky of the old ship Argo stretches with few familiar names. Its light set out around 935, when the caliphs of Córdoba were commissioning Medina Azahara and the Muslim world was shining at the height of its cultural splendour.
