Its story
In the discreet Lynx, a late constellation of the northern sky, kindles this orange K-type giant at 230 light-years. Its light set out around 1795, while Goya was painting his court portraits and all of Europe was simmering under the shock wave of the French Revolution. Cooler and broader than the Sun, it offers that amber tone so typical of ageing stars.
