Its story
In Volans, one of those late little figures European navigators drew while sailing the southern seas, shines an F-type yellow-white star. Its light set out one hundred and seventy years ago, when telegraphs were beginning to weave a first nervous network across continents. Slightly hotter and more luminous than the Sun, it sheds that clear, pale-gold tone so characteristic of its kind. It is a quiet light in the southern celestial waters, like a glint among dark waves and modern constellations.
