Its light set out around the year 49, when Saint Paul was undertaking his missionary journeys around the Aegean and the Roman Empire lived under Claudius. Far more massive and luminous than the Sun, this youthful beacon will burn through its hydrogen in a cosmological breath, leaving behind a luminous void.

HIP 42614 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is February: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
