Its story
Vela, that keel of the southern celestial ship, also offers a white A-type star, hanging 228 light-years away. Its light set out around 1798, the year Napoleon’s expedition landed in Egypt and stumbled upon the Rosetta Stone. As an empire was peering into the hieroglyph, this star was dispatching the photons now delivered at magnitude 5.89.
