Its story
Carina offers another ember, this time orange: a cool K-type giant tinting its corner of the sky with copper. Its 222 light-years align almost exactly with Napoleon’s long march toward Moscow in 1812. The photons reaching a telescope tonight set out as that army was foundering in the Russian snow, and only now complete the journey.
