Its story
2 Ursae Majoris is a white A-type star about 152 light-years away, set on one of the outer limbs of the Great Bear. It is a young, hot sun far brighter than our own, its light travelling for over a century and a half before meeting any eye. It marks one of the ends of the classical bear outline, the spot where the animal's silhouette dissolves into fainter stars.
