Its story
30 Lyncis shines just 106 light-years away, a true cosmic neighbourhood by stellar standards. It is an F-class star, yellow-white, slightly hotter and brighter than the Sun, estimated to be around 1.5 billion years old —less than half the current age of the Solar System. It inhabits Lynx, the obscure constellation that Hevelius invented in the 17th century to fill the gap between Ursa Major and Auriga.
