Its story
18 Puppis is a yellow-white F-type star 73 light-years away —a surprisingly close neighbourhood. Its light takes barely three human generations to reach us. It dwells in the ancient Argo Navis —Jason's mythical ship, now broken into Carina, Vela and Puppis— in a southern region speckled with some of the most beautiful open clusters along the southern Milky Way.
