Its story
In the Stern, 291 light years away, this orange K-type star shines at magnitude 5.14 with a warm tone, like a quiet ember. Its light set out in the years when El Greco was painting his last canvases in Toledo and crosses the southern sky with the maturity of stars that have left behind the bluish youth of hydrogen. Under rural skies it is barely sensed, yet through a telescope it reveals the amber hue that marks its spectral class.
