Azmidi
Xi
Highly luminous starIts story
Azmidi inhabits the ancient Stern of Argo Navis, a yellow G-type supergiant 1,199 light-years away, similar in colour to the Sun yet enormous in size. The light crossing tonight left its surface when Charlemagne had just died and Europe was reorganising itself into feudal estates. Its name, derived from the Arabic «Al-Aẓmīdī», has reached us nearly unchanged from the medieval catalogues that first charted the southern skies.
