Its story
In Puppis, the stern of the ancient ship Argo, shines an orange star. Its light crossed some 324 years before reaching us: it set out around 1702, when the War of the Spanish Succession was beginning and Queen Anne ascended the British throne. Cooler than the Sun, it burnishes the southern sky with muted copper, like a lamp on the deck of a vessel long gone.
