Hot blue starIts story
538 light-years away in the southern Stern burns a blue type-B star whose light departed when conquistadors roamed the New World and maps were redrawn every season. It is a young, hot ember, far more massive than the Sun, its stellar winds tousling the space around it. Its intrinsic brilliance surpasses a hundred suns combined. Modest to the eye, its light has nonetheless been travelling for centuries to reach a human pupil.
