Its story
1 Canis Minoris is a white A-type star 316 light-years away, opening the Flamsteed catalogue of a small, modest constellation —the Lesser Dog, marked in winter skies by Procyon and little else. Its light, hotter than the Sun's, left around 1710. The star sits close to the border with Monoceros, in a stretch of sky where the Milky Way only faintly hints at its presence.
