Hot blue star

Its story

Carina again, blue again: a hot B-type star burns 480 light-years away with the incandescence reserved for the most energetic suns. Its light set out around 1545, when Copernicus had been in print for barely two years and Europe was beginning to settle the Sun at the center. It arrives now at magnitude 5.38, a cold bluish spark fixed in the keel of the austral sky.
