Its story

In the unfurled sails of Carina pulses a variable A-class star, white and hot, whose brightness is not fixed but breathes in subtle cycles. Its light has been crossing space for some 300 years; when it set out, the Bourbons were settling onto the Spanish throne after the War of Succession.
