Highly luminous starIts story
41 Geminorum is a rare and intensely luminous orange supergiant of K type in the Twins, one of those exceptional beacons whose intrinsic brightness exceeds the Sun's by thousands of times. It is so far that modern measurements place it several thousand light-years away. What the eye catches tonight are photons that travelled through an entire era of human civilisation, dating back before the first written empires.
