Epsilon Andromedae is a yellow giant unusually rich in heavy elements —a composition that hints at an origin in regions quite unlike the Sun's. Just over a hundred and sixty light-years away, its light set out when photography was still a novelty. It belongs to the quiet web of stars that hold the princess's outline, away from the spotlight stolen by her brighter neighbours.
