π Andromedae is a multiple system some 599 light-years away, dominated by a hot blue B-type star joined by several instrument-detected companions. She belongs to the silhouette of the chained princess, one of the most ancient constellations, whose namesake galaxy is the nearest spiral to the Milky Way visible to the naked eye.
