Iota Andromedae is a blue-white star that traces the northern end of the chain forming the silhouette of the bound princess, near the Great Square of Pegasus. Hot and young, it shines from some five hundred light-years away with a surface above eleven thousand degrees. Its light set out when Luther nailed his theses to the door at Wittenberg and the religious map of Europe began to fracture.
Where it is and when to see it
Iota Andromedae lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is October: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
